Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a numbness and tingling in the hand and arm caused by a pinched nerve in the wrist. The major nerve controlling the thumb, parts of the middle finger, and ring finger is called the median nerve.
The carpal “tunnel” is formed by bones in the wrist. The median nerve, tendons and blood vessels pass through this opening. If one or more of the bones forming this tunnel should “collapse”, inflammation, nerve pressure, and painful symptoms can result. The Spine & Carpal Tunnel Connection
It’s no surprise that chiropractic care is effective in treating carpal tunnel when you consider how the nerves are connected. The median nerve travels through the bones, into your wrist, past your elbow, up your arm, through your shoulder and neck and finally to your spinal cord. The openings between several bones in your lower neck is how the median nerve connects to the spinal cord. When these spinal bones lose their normal motion or position, they can cause problems in the hand and wrist.
Don't Ignore The Warning Signs
I am a carpenter by trade and do a lot of roofing and room additions as well as all types of remodeling, so I need to be in good physical condition. I started seeing Dr. Schneider’s father about twenty-three years ago, and transferred to Dr. Mark Schneider upon his retirement. Dr. Schneider has always made my wife and I feel welcome and at ease with treatment. I have mostly had low back and hip pain that he currently sees me for on a maintenance basis. I appreciate his understanding of my problems and his knowledge of how best to help me....
