Earache Treatment

Earache Treatment

A child awakens suddenly at night, crying because of intense ear pain. The probable cause is infection of the middle ear (the area between the eardrum and the skull). This is a very painful condition called Acute Otitis Media that is usually accompanied by a fever with fluid coming out of the ear.

Childhood ear infections often frighten parents, partly because they tend to come on suddenly and often times at night. The most common treatment that pediatricians are likely to prescribe for ear infections in children are antibiotics, tubes in the ears and surgery to the eardrum. The benefit of every one of these treatments is questionable.

An example was shown in a double-blind study of 171 children (239 affected ears) with Acute Otitis Media. The children were divided into four groups. One group was treated with myringotomy (surgery). A second group was given antibiotics. The fourth group received no treatment at all. According to the authors, recovery time was about the same for all of the children whether medical treatments were done or nothing was done at all.

Chiropractic doctors free the spine from spinal nerve stress, also called vertebral subluxations or spinal lesions, by using spinal adjustments. A chiropractic spinal adjustment is one of the best things that you could do for a child or adult who is suffering from ear infection.

"My name is Kara and my daughter Brynley is a patient. Brynley has suffered from recurring double ear infections that lead to severe pain, high fevers, and the inability to sleep at night. Each time she came down with an ear infection the doctor would prescribe an antibiotic, only to end up with another ear infection. Not only would the ear infection eventually come back, but the antibiotics would cause adverse side effects such as diaper rash and diarrhea.

I heard they could treat children with ear problems and decided to give it a shot. Since going to Schneider Clinic both of Brynley’s ears have drained and her fever has not returned. I stopped having to give her antibiotics and I finally feel like her body is healing and she is able to build true immunity to her infections which is very important. Instead of treating the problem with a drug they works along with the body’s natural process of healing.

Brynley now goes in for maintenance appointments. She is able to sleep better and is an all-around happier/content baby! I would definitely recommend Schneider Clinic to any parents considering other alternatives for their children other than their regular doctor. I know I am not the only parent who finds their child having reoccurring ear infections one antibiotic after another. Thank you Schneider Clinic for all your help."

Research has shown that vertebral subluxations can also directly affect the ears, as reported in a 1989 study:
“Subluxations affecting these levels (Cl through C4) may be responsible for deranged function. Restoring the spine to its proper alignment through chiropractic care should result in the return of normal nerve supply and ultimately normal function.”

If your children or grandchildren have earaches, we recommend that you get them checked for subluxations in their necks to prevent and or reduce the occurrences. It is our opinion that it is better to restore the body's own function and healing processes to correct the problem. This can be done gently by using the Activator Chiropractic Method.
